The directive for this project was concise… “remind me of beautiful hotels one stays at on safaris in Africa… without animal skins and masks”…

Voila. With a gorgeous Sargehetti-inspired color palette, we alluded to animal prints with the silk strie in the rug, the veining of the fireplace marble, the abstracts on fabrics, the tusk-like curves of a Vladimir Kagan chair. The bold mirror over the rose blush velvet sectional tips its hat the decorative flourishes still to be found on British-era architecture. The bedroom veered into another direction while grounded in the same color scheme… a lush oasis with a black walnut 4-post bed and silk sunburst rug. Lamps and flush mount light are vintage 1960s finds…one might almost believe this bedroom was transported from the Doris Day movie in our imagination.
